1.1.4 cool :)

1.1.4 is really cool... (perhaps 1.1.3 bu I switched from 1.0.2 so I don't know the difference...)

I installed regions patch 1.1.4 from iClarified... It solved my telephone format setting problem. Dates and times are in Turkish format now...

Recent calls, received calls and missed calls time and date problem solved...

I started to receive sms messages from banks and my operator... (I started to receive commercial messages too. I don't know if this is good! ) In short I can receive sms messages from alphanumeric senders...

Home page paginatinons cool... I've three pages now... I installed Categories too.. Apple shoul include this in a later upgrade too...

Music seems to be popular for iPhone. I already have a guitar, a piano, a drum, an instrument called gangsa and I have MobileScrobbler (Last.fm for iPhone)

I upgraded to 1.1.4 at last!

Thanks to Zibri. It was pretty easy, no crash, no freeze. Straightforward... I regret to wait so long...

Do not to forget to backup your photos, contacts etc.

Thanks again Zibri...

Problems solved?:
  • I look forward to gettin an sms form my bank. I hope bank sms problem is solved. I can't wait to see. I also hope dummy alphanumeric sms problem is solved too. (They were crashing sms app and I was having to delete that sms from sms.db using iBrickr and sqlite.)
  • My one other problem was the dates and times of called numbers (and missed calls). Some of them were appearing junk dates and times. I wonder if this problem will be solved too...

What's new:

  • Keyboard keys have optional keys now. If you press on a key and hold you see more keys.
  • The ability to send an SMS message to multiple people is now there.
  • Google Maps application can now pinpoint your location using cell tower triangulation
  • Google Maps can now display the Hybrid map view
  • You can now drag and drop application icons on your home screen. You can change their orders, change the icons on the dock. If you press on an icon and hold you see icons moving then drag your icon wherever you want.
  • The home screen supports pagination. If you have icons more than one page you can drag your screen to the right. Home screen bottom shows how many pages you have.
  • You can now add web bookmarks to your home screen
  • Double press home button goes to favorite phone contacts. You can change it to go to ipod.

more iPhone music from iBand...

After their first music movie iBand released their second movie... This one includes vocals and is more like real music and they don't have a Nintendo this time but they have 3 iPhones...

http://www.iband.at/

so far...

my iPhone is still 1.0.2

I use/Play most:

Installer : Number 1 app. A must definitely. You can't install anything w/o it.
iSolitaire : Famous PC game. When you open all the cards A's fall down and move as you move your iPhone.
iGo : A very clever Go game. I could not win a game yet.
Safari : I check my mails, read newspapers.
Categories: You can sort your icons into folders. Useful for the ones who installs many apps.
SummerBoard : Extends your springboard (home screen) to have more icons. A must for the ones who installs 3rd party apps/games. Without it you can't find apps you installed and you can't run'em.
Customize : You can change the order of your icons. Not as amusing as in 1.1.3 but useful.

iPhone unlocked (again!)

A teen hacker known for his deftness with iPhones has figured out how to unlock models running the latest firmware versions by cracking a protection that has frustrated hackers for weeks.

The breakthrough by George Hotz, aka Geohot, means people who have bought a recent iPhone will once again be able to use it on the phone network of their choice. Apple makes as much as $400 for every handset that's activated on an approved network, so its developers have worked hard to prevent the so-called unlocking of iPhones.

I still like a lot...

Despite everything, I still like it a lot... I did not feel like this for any product as far as I remember. Maybe for my Macintosh Plus, my very first computer.

I still cannot receive sms messages from my bank.
I received a message and then sms app failed to work. I could not read/write sms. Then I erased sms.db with iBrickr. Now sms app works fine but old messages are gone.

My firmware is 1.0.2 . I need to upgrade it to 1.1.2 for bank sms messages and for a few more patches. (like sound volume)

1.1.3 seems sooooo good. My location for maps app is nice. Springboard icons can be rearranged or deleted. Task manager icon too. You can have additional home screens for your apps. Too sexy. For one who did not see, please visit apple.com and watch the video iphone home screen in fingertip series. I wait for the day I can install 1.1.3 .

I installed a chess app, iPhartz, a few games. Chess is good but too small for my fingers. Need to be updated. I installed Launcher but Installer got lost. And it did not appear in Launcher screen. (If you install to many apps for iphone screen then you cannot see the ones outside the screen therefore you cannot launch them.) I erased Launcher with iBrickr. Then I could see Installer.

Missed calls or received calls cannot show time and date properly. Numbers get scrumbled. Calls from other operators different from tcell cannot show their names. I need to add phone numbers with +90 country code for those operators. Seems strange.

I wrote before bu I have to stress: this phone designed for Internet. You have to have wifi or data plan, so that you can browse Internet or download apps (thanks to Installer app or AppTap).

First Impressions

  • Touch screen is great really and responsiveness is quick.
  • Screen gets dirty easily with your fingers but screen is so bright that you rarely notice it.
  • Video conversion is a mess but after you convert your video it is a pleasure to watch it.
  • Screen is not small to watch a video at all.
  • Sides of the screen gets dirt and dust but wipe cloth seems to work for them too.
  • Taking photos is a little problem because of the touch screen. You need to be careful not to touch the button before you are ready to shoot.
  • Photo quality is not bad if there is enough light.
  • Without wi-fi you really do not get aware of what iPhone is. Many applications assume you have wi-fi or at least EDGE: Weather, stocks, youtube, map.
