i'm coming to turkey next week and i'd like to bring an iphone for a friend who's living there. it would make her very happy.
but i don't understand the issues around it in turkey, and with turkcell.
can i buy it in the us and unlock it myself? or do i need to buy it in europe?
and once it is in turkey, what will i have to do or get turkcell to do, for it to work?

It depends on the version of iphone... version 1.0.2 can be unlocked with software but 1.1.2 cannot be unlocked with software...
